			The Bride Kristen M. McDonald I am the bride.That's right -- not the bridesmaid, not the maid of honor -- I am the bride. I get to wear the white dress and carry lots of pretty flowers and drive my friends and family crazy with the smallest of details. I knew Mike was the one when I told him that "Emergency" was my favorite childhood show and he told me the star (and my pretend boyfriend) "Johnny Gage" was his hero. Imagine ... all this fuss over a 1970's sideburn wearin, ambulance drivin, woman rescuin fireman!
			And now... From the Groom Michael J. Samson Although I will never admit it to Kristen I was a bit neverous the night of New Year's Eve... Nervous to pick the perfect moment to propose and nervous that I couldn't keep it a secret for long. Actually, I couldn't think of a better time than the new millenium to start a brand new life with Kristen.
			The Proposal We decided that for the big "Year 2000" celebration that we would spend it together in one of our favorite places... the beach! We headed to Wilmington, NC, for a relaxing weekend away. On New Years Eve we went down to the waterfront for a nice dinner and a night of fireworks and celebrating. After a great dinner at one of our favorite places, the Front Street Brewery, we sat at the bar for hours just talking and laughing at all the underagers trying to get some New Years cheer. Just before midnight we walked down to the riverwalk for the big countdown. The clock started ticking down and the atmosphere was charged with people screaming and cheering and then ... right as everyone yelled "Happy New Year" and the fireworks started exploding, Mike turned to Kristen, pulled out a ring box and asked "Will you Marry Me?" Kristen is pretty sure she said "yes," but was so in shock Mike had to put the beautiful platinum ring on her finger. After Kristen recovered they ran to the phone to call their families and friends and share the good news. The year 2000 has definately been full of "new beginnings" for us and we are looking forward to many more.
